Data Center Engineer

Your Responsibilities:Oversee the lifecycle of physical servers, network devices, and other IT infrastructure componentsPerform installation, configuration, and upkeep of server and network components in our data centersPlan and implement efficient rack layouts, cabling schemes, and patching schedules to optimize data center operationsDiagnose hardware issues, coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements (RMA process), and ensure timely resolutionHandle incoming and outgoing shipments, maintain accurate hardware inventory, and manage stock levels of IT componentsDevelop and maintain comprehensive documentation of physical infrastructure, cabling layouts, rack configurations, and associated processesBuild and maintain strong working relationships with hardware vendors, colocation partners, and remote hands teams to ensure efficient operationsMaintain office IT infrastructure, including hardware and network systemsYour Skills and Experience:5+ years of hands-on experience in data center engineeringStrong understanding of server hardware, network devices, and data storage systemsKnowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceiversExperience with fiber optic testing and cleaning is requiredBasic knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking protocolsCCNA certification is a plusProven experience in racking, cabling, and working with data center facilities management tools (power, cooling, etc.)Familiarity with basic scripting in Bash and Python within a Linux environment is a plusWillingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as requiredEOE Statement: Specialist Staffing Group is an equal opportunity employer.
