Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Neurocritical Care Advanced Practice Provider to join their team.  This role will be joining a team of 8 Neurocritical Care APPs managing complex patients on the inpatient side. There is no outpatient clinical responsibility, we provide coverage in a closed ICU.  Schedule is rotating day/night shifts, with an average of 5 overnights per month.

This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to participate in patient assessment, diagnosis, procedures, treatment planning as part of the Neurocritical Care Program at Rush University Medical Center. The APP Service cares for dedicated 12 beds within the 28-bed Neuroscience ICU, provides care for patients with intracerebral hemorrhages, strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus, brain infections, and other neurological emergencies. The successful candidate is part of a multidisciplinary team lead by the attending neurointensivist, and including a neurocritical care fellow, critical care pharmacists and nutritionist. The APP will autonomously manage the medical care of our neurocritical care patients, perform bedside procedures as well as conduct family meetings. The APP ensures patient outcomes are achieved on a timely basis and resources are used in an efficient manner. The APP collaborates in the development and implementation of standards of care based on current research and evidence.

Clinical and educational collaboration with Neurology, Neurosurgery and other related services is expected. Continuing education in the subspecialty is encouraged and supported. Opportunities for clinical research if desired are present as well.

*Applicants with previous ICU experience preferred but not required. Relevant RN-level experience may be considered.

*APRN candidates for this position must be acute care certified.
