The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging of the University of California, San Francisco invites candidates to apply for the position of Medical Nuclear Physicist. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the In-Residence or Adjunct series depending on qualifications and interests.
Faculty are expected to develop an independent research program of excellence. Potential candidates are expected to have a strong background and experience in nuclear medical imaging with SPECT and PET, detector instrumentation, detector modeling and simulation, image reconstruction, and image quantification. It is preferred that candidates have a solid record in clinical and pre-clinical imaging of theranostics agents and dosimetry, including alpha and beta emitters. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in developing photon-counting CT as a clinical modality at UCSF. The department encourages applications from candidates already leading research on these topics as Principal Investigators with funding from external sources such as the National Institute of Health. Other responsibilities include close interaction with basic scientists and clinical researchers in planning, conducting, and evaluating data. Faculty are required to teach residents, fellows, medical students, and masters students.
Candidates must have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics or Related Field, and with postgraduate or postdoctoral training and research experience since obtaining their PhD, preferably at least two years combined. Applicant materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission. The qualifications are to be met by the time of the faculty appointment start date.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,100-$320,100. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
