We’ve got what you’re looking for.Job Description:Parsons is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead a growing team of engineers and architects within our Transit Facilities division.Your will become a leader in the transportation infrastructure industry by conceptualizing and designing cutting-edge and sustainable transit facilities and enhancing, upgrading, and extending the useful life of current systems. As the liaison between our varied clients and internal technical teams, your blend of technical and project management expertise will drive projects forward. Your mandate includes deciphering client requirements, delineating scopes of work, and orchestrating execution teams to surpass client quality, timeliness, and technical expectations.The candidate shall possess technical capabilities to complete a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments by applying structural engineering techniques and analyses. The Structural Engineer at this level is a fully qualified and licensed professional, proficient in the utilization of engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve the use of CAD, BIM, and structural analysis tools.The position will require the successful candidate to sit in the DC/MD/VA area but is hybrid, blending personal flexibility with the expectation that the candidate will meet face-to-face with various clients, periodically travel to transit facilities to perform on-site surveys and evaluations during non-revenue hours, and work at various local corporate offices to coordinate design teams, partner firms, subcontractors, and suppliers.Join us in shaping the future of transit infrastructure!What You'll Be Doing:Develop and lead structural designs supporting the transit infrastructure industry. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure transit facilities meet project objectives, are code-compliant, and exceed industry safety standards.Conduct site assessment and gather necessary in-situ data to perform rehabilitation, reconfiguration, expansion, and similar state-of-good repair programs.Provide technical oversight and quality of all technical drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and analyses through the life cycle of a project, from preliminary engineering, to development of construction documents, through construction support and closeout.Responsible for the development, implementation, and tracking of discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules, as well as development of staff forecasting reports.Responsible to monitor the quality and progress of the discipline on each project, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied, and implementing Parsons Quality procedures.Work closely with Project Managers to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance or productivity, and client satisfaction.What Required Skills You'll Bring:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related field) and 15+ years of related work experience. Professional Engineer (PE) and Structural Engineer (SE) registration is required with the ability to obtain equivalent registration in multiple additional states & jurisdictions.Experience as a project manager for the delivery of projects with extensive experience in client-facing roles.Good working knowledge of MS Office, industry-standard structural design and analysis software, building information modeling (BIM) tools such as Revit, and a basic understanding of CAD tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.On smaller projects, independently develop structural drawings, details, calculations, specifications, analyses, and construction documents using industry-standard tools. Perform detailed quality & technical checking of design calculations, drawings, and specifications performed by others.Working proficiency with design codes such as ACI, ASCE, AISC, ASTM, International Building Codes, etc.What Desired Skills You'll Bring:A postgraduate (MS) with an emphasis on structural engineering is strongly preferred but is not required.Ability to execute complex 2D and 3D structural analyses and prepare related design calculations, analyses, and reports.Efficient in modeling and designing structural systems using 2D and 3D finite element analyses (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, and/or others)Strong aptitude for learning higher-level design and management skillsMinimum Clearance Required to Start:Not Applicable/NoneThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 75 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
