Job title: Operational Inventory Controller
Pay: Starting at $22 - $26 an hour, depending on experience.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am to 3pm
Location: Tigard, Oregon
The Operational Inventory Controller (OIC) maintains the accuracy of physical counts in relation to the point-of-sale system. The OIC is someone with a high level of organization skills and is detail-oriented and highly accurate.
This position reports directly to the Location Manager, and will work closely with Yard Management, Receiving Coordinator, Load Checker, Material Return Coordinator and Dispatcher. This position will also be requested to work with other OIC's as needed to assist with workload and training of newer team members.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experienced in the Lumber industry
- Knowledgeable in inventory control principles and protocols
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required
- Must be able to operate a personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Point-of-sale system experience
- Must have reliable transportation
- Understanding of auditing best practices preferred
- Ability to operate a forklift preferred
- Perform inventory counts daily as required. i.e. cycle counts, stock checks, empty peg/bin counts, etc.
- Maintains accurate inventory physical counts in relationship to system inventory counts at a level that meets Company standards.
- Audit, research, and investigate causes of inventory discrepancies between actual on-hand and system quantities as a result of cycle counts, stock checks, empty peg/bin counts, backorders, negative quantities, word-of-mouth, etc.
- Maintain, research and correct negative quantities
- Maintain and perform adjustments due to product damage, theft, cull, etc.
- Audit and maintain inventory for dead stock in accordance to the Company's policy and best practices
- Audit and maintain special order (non-stock) inventory to reduce loss in accordance to the Company's policy and best practice
- Collaborate with other OIC's to resolve inventory related issues
- Maintain product locations (bins) and site location map
- Organize, coach, and participate in physical inventories and if applicable, perpetual physical inventory
- Collaborates with Yard Management and staff to avoid discrepancies
- Collaborate with Yard Management to develop methods and best practices to limit lost inventory due to theft or damages
- Collaborate with the Receiving Coordinator, Load Checker and Dispatcher to ensure product readiness and On-Time-In-Full commitments are being met
- Participate in the Inventory Exchange Program and team audits of other locations when needed
- Coach fellow team members on proper inventory processes and best practices
- Maintain records of inventory adjustments, changes, and counts as an auditing tool
- Help teammates with customer service issues
- Assist customers when appropriate (Do not walk past a customer)
- Assist with receiving and material return process
- Assist with stocking and facing of product
- Assist with maintenance of retail pricing labels
- Assist with additional duty requests from location management team
- Be a safety advocate
- Must be adaptable and willing to do what's needed for the good of the location
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work in a variety of environments
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must have a valid driver's license
