SUMMARY:
As the Senior Construction Quality Control Manager in Construction West, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of construction projects within the region. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, you will oversee the implementation of quality control processes and procedures, conduct inspections and audits, and provide guidance to project teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures for construction projects in the Northwest region, in compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites to monitor compliance with quality control standards, specifications, and codes.
- Review project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and submittals, to identify quality control requirements and ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to address quality issues and non-conformances promptly and effectively.
- Provide training and guidance to project teams on quality control procedures, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Document and report quality control activities, findings, and corrective actions to project stakeholders and management.
- Collaborate with the Director of Quality Assurance/Quality Control to continuously improve quality control processes and procedures based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, design reviews, and project kickoff meetings to provide input on quality control requirements and expectations.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to address recurring quality issues and improve project outcomes.
- Stay current with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to construction quality control and incorporate relevant updates into project processes and procedures.
Daily Duties:
- Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, codes, and specifications.
- Review daily progress reports and address any quality concerns or non-conformities identified during inspections.
- Provide guidance and support to quality control inspectors and construction teams on quality requirements and best practices.
- Review subcontractor quality control plans and ensure adherence to project-specific quality requirements.
- Investigate and resolve quality-related issues or disputes with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Monitor material testing and inspection activities to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Document and report quality control findings, including deficiencies, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Collaborate with project management teams to implement quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions.
Weekly Duties:
- Conduct weekly quality control meetings with project teams to review inspection findings and discuss quality-related issues.
- Review weekly progress reports and track the status of quality control activities, including corrective actions and follow-up inspections.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely resolution of quality deficiencies and implementation of corrective measures.
- Provide training and mentorship to quality control inspectors and construction personnel on quality control procedures and requirements.
- Review project schedules and milestones to identify upcoming quality control activities and allocate resources accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits of quality control documentation to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
Monthly Duties:
- Prepare monthly quality control reports summarizing inspection findings, trends, and corrective actions taken.
- Analyze quality control data to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement in construction processes and procedures.
- Coordinate with project management teams to develop and implement quality improvement plans and initiatives.
- Review subcontractor performance evaluations and assess their compliance with quality control requirements.
- Participate in monthly project review meetings to discuss quality control metrics, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct periodic reviews of project specifications and standards to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control policies, procedures, and training programs to enhance project quality and performance.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Inspection and Audit Completion Rate: Ensure timely completion of inspections and audits as per project schedule and requirements.
- Non-Conformance Resolution Time: Minimize the time taken to address non-conformances and quality issues to avoid project delays and cost overruns.
- Compliance with Quality Control Standards: Maintain a high level of compliance with quality control standards and regulatory requirements across all construction projects.
- Training Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and initiatives in improving awareness and adherence to quality control procedures among project teams.
- Customer Satisfaction: Measure customer satisfaction with project quality and identify opportunities for improvement based on feedback and performance metrics.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the Senior Construction Quality Control Manager, you will oversee a team of quality control inspectors and coordinators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective execution of quality control activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction quality control, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Knowledge of construction quality control standards, codes, and regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software
