Vice President, Finance- TwinSpires Segment

Job Summary:
The Vice President- Finance is a business partner to the President and management of the TwinSpires segment, providing overall day-to-day financial leadership and coordination of the financial aspects for the Twinspires segment of Churchill Downs Incorporated. This includes providing financial support for the TwinSpires Horse Racing, United Tote, Exacta Systems and Sports Wagering businesses. The VP - TwinSpires Finance works with the TwinSpires management and departmental leaders in the development and implementation of strategic and operating plans to drive profitable growth. This finance leader also oversees financial planning and analysis (FP&A) support within the TwinSpires segment and provides analysis on actual results, develop forecasts, and develop actions to achieve the forecasts. This finance leader is responsible for analysis and decision support related to capital management, business development opportunities, and supplier related activities and provides financial analysis and decision support to executive management for the TwinSpires segment as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the development of operational and financial models used to forecast financial results over the long term
- Leads and oversees the operating segment through operating cycles, including
- Monthly analysis of actual results
- Development of monthly forecast updates
- Development of annual operating plan
- Works with President - TwinSpires and segment leadership to
- Refine financial and operating statistics to drive consistent performance and accountability
- Develop capital forecasts and to implement plans to achieve spend capital efficiently and effectively
- Responsible for financial modeling and analysis support of capital management, business development opportunities, and vendor related activities for the TwinSpires segment
- Responsible for working with VP - Corporate FP&A and Treasury and VP - Investor Relations to develop messaging for investor meetings (e.g. investor presentation, Q&A) and to write financial press releases related to the TwinSpires segment
- Responsible for supporting key supplier relationships and vendor negotiations for the TwinSpires segment, as needed
- Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the TwinSpires segment
- Ensures the team is utilizing state of the art techniques, tools, and technology to perform the analysis and plans in the most efficient, timely and effective manner as possible
- Coaches and develops the TwinSpires segment finance team
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Masters, CPA, and / or CFA preferred
- A minimum of 10-15 years' experience in financial planning and analysis or financial leadership positions
- Excellent analytical, financial modeling, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong demonstrated management and leadership skills including ability to operationalize strategic plans
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize data
- Excellent financial acumen and thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Willingness and ability to pass suitability requirements of a gaming licensing body, including submission of detailed background and financial data
- Detail oriented, professional demeanor, strong organization and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and courage / ability to challenge and handle challenging situations as business expands
- Excellent verbal and written communication / presentation skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to cultivate working relationships throughout the organization
- Ability to gain respect of and influence business segment leader and leadership team quickly to support ongoing development, growth, and profitability of the businesses in the segment
- Experience in horse racing or gaming is desired
- Must be able to maintain required licenses in all jurisdictions applicable to the business.
- Authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis.
- Work-related travel may be required.
