Some of what you will do:
Responsible for developing and implementing pricing/margin guidelines and strategies within accepted corporate standards:
- Leads and executes responses to bids/RFXs/tenders, and develops advanced financial pricing models and presents to senior sales and executive leadership.
- Creates industry leading pricing strategies for customer retention/renewal, quotes or formal RFPs.
- Maintains market intelligence as related to competitive pricing and activities and applies to price plans in accordance with business goals.
- Mitigates risk through the management of pricing contracts and ensures compliance to legal terms.
- Evaluates and calculates customer rebates and manages payment and approval process.
- Manages the set up of special costing and works with Merchandising to effectively maintain accuracy.
Specifically, You Will:
- Develops the pricing strategy in response to complex bids and retension opportunities, while partnering with the sales team to balance revenue retension and margin/ profit improvement.
- Prepares complex financial models with a diverse view of profitability and communicates strategy to senior leadership for large pricing activities inclusive of new business opportunities, retention, margin projects and off core price plans.
- Establishes the process for recording, and understanding terms and conditions set out in legal agreements with customers, manages and monitors pricing and rebates in respect to those terms and deploys strategies with sales that align with those terms and drive profitability.
- Works with Merchandising to lower the cost of goods through the identification and implementation of deviated costing on pricing activities.
- Collects, maintains, and distributes market intelligence as related to competitive pricing and sales activities to increase revenue and market share for Staples Professional.
- Collects and reports on financial metrics relating to pricing programs, legal compliance, and profitability to track success of past strategies and create new pricing strategies.
- Manages processes and tools related to: RFX quote activities; corporate price plans; deviated costing and customer rebates.
Some of what you need:
- Post Secondary Degree or equivalent.
- Strong business judgement and detailed understanding of financial statements and application to financial modeling.
- Ability to read and understand legal documents.
- Solid understanding of generally accepted pricing principles and practices.
- Reading and writing in business and legal terms.
- Previous experience in office supply, technology, janitorial, furniture or safety supply pricing or related B2B.
- 4-6 years experience with pricing strategies, RFX responses, managing pricing programs/agreements and people management.
