Your Opportunity

Stantec's Atmospheric Sciences group is dedicated to helping our clients manage air quality, climate change issues and noise emissions professionally and proactively. Our professional engineers and scientists provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including mining, manufacturing, industry, commercial, transportation, and government. We offer a full suite of services including design and permitting, monitoring programs, predictive modelling, Greenhouse Gas emission quantification and verification, as well as planning and policy studies. We have an immediate opening for a Senior Atmospheric Engineer in our Burnaby BC office. Remote work options are available for eligible candidates that reside outside of Burnaby BC.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Client liaison and business development
  • Project management and preparation of proposals
  • Authoring and reviewing technical air quality related reports and documents
  • Collection and interpretation of data and information (desktop and at client sites)
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Air quality, meteorology and noise monitoring and reporting
  • Providing direction, mentorship, and support to staff in areas of your expertise

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Excellent quantitative and computer skills with Microsoft Office software needed
  • Experience and aptitude with statistical analysis would be an asset
  • Strong understanding of Provincial (British Columbia) and Federal regulatory air quality, meteorology and noise requirements and guidelines
  • Experience with ambient air quality, meteorology and noise monitoring would be an asset
  • Experience with collection of sound level measurements, and preparation of data reports would be an asset
  • Experience with Greenhouse Gas quantification, mitigation, and management (reduction) planning would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) are required
  • Experience with managing projects in a consulting environment would be an asset
  • Proven experience in successfully dealing with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients is necessary
  • Experience in providing supervision and mentorship to junior staff would be an asset
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a multi-disciplinary team is required
  • A valid driver's license is required

Education and Experience

A minimum of 10 years of environmental consulting experience for air quality, meteorology, noise and GHG.

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

A Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering, Air Quality Control or Environmental Sciences would be an asset.

Licensed as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or eligible to transfer a P.Eng. license from another province to EGBC.

Ability to function as an air quality and meteorology Qualified Professional (QP) according to this definition: An applied scientist or technologist specializing in an applied science or technology applicable to the duty or function, including, if applicable and without limiting this, archaeology, agrology, biology, chemistry, forestry, engineering, geology or hydrogeology, relevant to the field of practice set out in the condition; and who is registered with the appropriate professional organization, is acting under that organization's code of ethics and is subject to disciplinary action by that organization.

The air quality QP is typically someone who is a registered P.Eng. (or is eligible to register as a P.Eng.) with EGBC or an environmental professional with an air quality specialization, and who is a subject matter expert in air quality and meteorology monitoring, data analysis and reporting.

This position will involve a combination of field and office work. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for periods. Fieldwork may include travel (road or air) and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Evening and weekend work may be required. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Salary Range(s):
  • Lower Mainland $103,500/BC Other Areas $97,600 - Lower Mainland $155,200/BC Other Areas $146,400 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
