Your Role at Cabot
Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers in execution of chemical process design for small and large capital projects. Can lead engineers working on Engineering regional-scale projects or engineers working at local-level Manufacturing capital or retrofit projects.
How You Will Make an Impact
• Provide process engineering support to variety of small to large capital projects and plant sustaining activities
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams and Heat & Material Balances
• Develop new and redline existing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
• Develop new and redline existing Interlock Narratives
• Facilitate and/or support improvement projects, maintenance projects and aid in process troubleshooting
• Provide technical guidence and troubleshooting process, instrumentation and controls, and equipment problems
• Lead and work with engineers to investigate and develop new equipment and technologies to improve chemical production and control processes
• Author, maintain and update engineering and equipment standards & assist with training when applicable
• Support cost estimates of CapEx and Opex
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of processs equipment, external engineering firms and vendors
• Work on cost reduction projects and collaborate with procurement to ensure good supply assurance (reliable flow of raw material supply through the production cycle)
• Support plant manufacturing operations as needed by providing technical expertise
• Lead/support Process Hazard Analysis for new and existing processes
• Interact with R&D, manufacturing organization and production plants to scale-up and/or develop new processes
• Develop and implement quality, safety, and process improvements
What You Will Bring to Cabot
• Solid knowledge of chemistry, chemical process design, process control and instrumentation, and/or chemical equipment
• Self sufficient chemical process simulation capability using ASPEN Simulation Software
• Strong knowledge with Combustion technologies, Air Pollution Control technologies, and Carbon Capture technologies
• Strong knowledge and development experience with Catalytic gas treatment technologies
• Hands-on experience with catalyst handling and operations is a must
• Strong engineering execution knowledge and experience to lead technical developments in cross-functional teams. Self-starter; excellent management and organizational skills
• Works independently on a regular basis based on the tasks and responsibilities required for the technical development execution of early phase capital projects.
• Demonstrates solid ability to recognize and recommend new or improved techniques and processes
• Ability to motivate and influence others to action
• Ability to formulate and present ideas in a convincing and persuasive manner; give technical advice.
• May require local or regional travel.
Education/Experience
• MS (Ph.D preferred) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering in related discipline with 15+ years of related experience.
• Air pollution control and catalyst experience is a must
• Carbon black and gas treatment industrial experience is preferred
• Strong experience in capital 6-phase development process
• A professional engineering license (or foreign equivalent) is desired.
