DevOps Engineer

The Swift Group is seeking a DevOps Engineer to enhance our software and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure tools meet defined requirements, support data engineering efforts, and maintain a secure and efficient multi-cloud environment. This position is located onsite in Chantilly, VA.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with mission partners and multiple entities to ensure tools meet established requirements.
- Apply DevOps principles to continuously deliver high-value enhancements to software within a service-based architecture.
- Address all application security vulnerabilities according to severity to maintain security accreditation.
- Support data engineering efforts to analyze large data sets and derive data relationships.
- Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot various codebases deployed in a multi-cloud environment.
- Manage and troubleshoot hardware and network components.
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL-based databases.
Required Skills:
- Experience with ElasticSearch and Kibana.
- Proficiency in AWS services, including S3, EBS, and EC2.
- Experience in platform and application automated deployment.
- Knowledge of cloud deployment, containerization, web service/API management, and computing optimization.
- Familiarity with cloud databases, storage, virtualization, and network configurations.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines in a multi-tenant environment.
- Understanding of automated software quality checks, security scanning, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Proficiency in Linux and Unix-based operating systems.
- Experience using requirements tracking tools such as JIRA or Confluence.
- Proven ability to maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and manage software, hardware, and networks.
- Experience installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems and application software.
- Skills in monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
- BA/BS Degree or five additional years experience in lieu of a degree.
- US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with big data processing and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, HBase).
- Familiarity with Apache NiFi and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of managing IT security vulnerabilities using Plans of Actions and Milestones (POAMs).
- Understanding of FISMA security controls.
- Experience documenting and communicating technical requirements to diverse audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams across organizational boundaries.
- Background in programming and developing software applications in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in Python and ability to translate mission needs into technical requirements.
- Experience in designing and maintaining SQL-based databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Skills in developing PL/SQL database scripts and tuning complex queries against various data sets.
- Experience in developing secure and scalable REST APIs and integrating services using messaging technologies.
- Familiarity with geo-locational data at both backend and application tiers.
- Experience in a DevOps environment and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in using Git as a source code repository.
