Location: Three Rivers, MI

Working Model: Onsite from Day 1

Duration: 6+ Months

Notes:
• Time: M-F 8am to 4 pm and as needed, OT will granted where needed
• Travel: Yes, within their market area
• Expense : yes, mileage while on the job-not to and from home, cell phone allowance of $50 a month
• Typical day look like: In field inspecting, communicating with the build vendors.
• Team Environment: unsupervised, reports to manager, coordinators that they communicate with all the time, attend meetings that occur twice week or any other calls necessary. Need to be able to schedule out their days and know what needs to be done. Need to have enough experience to be able to identify and make recommendations on how to handle situation. ownership of their role.

  • Work within the industry, aerial or burial, splicing (copper or Fiber), OSP experience, could come from cable tv industry, seen lots of candidates with AT&T and/or Verizon /Frontier background.
  • Outside plant utility, placing, splicing ,Engineering or management of a mix of all 3, manger will consider.
  • Engineering, Outside plant Engineering, good solid background in this type of work

Disqualifier: Not having Driver's licence/means of transportation, not willing to drive to location

  • Manager is fine with candidate outside of the Three rivers Mi area, but candidate would need to relocate at their own expenses.
  • Need the contractor to be ideally within a hour from the site.
  • Indiana/MI boarder, may have some shifts in the area that they are working based of need-primarily in the southeast area of MI.
  • Travel furthest from three rivers site: 100 miles.


Description:
  • This position is responsible for overseeing OSP Construction activities performed by the contractors. The Administrative Construction Manager is responsible to ensure contractor-produced work meets or exceeds quality standards and that projects are completed per design and within the allocated budget.
  • This position requires strong communication skills, verbal and written, as projects will need to be coordinated with State and/or local municipalities as well with other utilities or departments.
  • The Administrative Construction Manager ensures contractor compliance with State, local, and company requirements while working within the public ROW or utility easement.
  • This position requires strong teamwork with the Construction Supervisor as well as the OSP Engineer.
  • This position requires teaming cross-functionally with departments such as Logistics, Contract Administration, ISP Engineering/COE, and Project Management.
  • This position also supports sales, marketing, operations, and regulatory as well as other duties assigned by the Manager or Director of Engineering.


Responsibilities:
  • Familiarity with permitting requirements- Work Zone Protection (WZP) and Traffic Control plans (TCP)
  • Project Scheduling- meet project timelines
  • Project Inspections- pre and post
  • Material Management
  • Utilize the JIM process as necessary
  • Ensure accurate reporting- invoicing/timesheets
  • Maintain accurate records- asbuilts
  • Attend pre-construction meetings
  • Monitor project expenditures for accuracy and budget requirements
  • Plant Damage investigation and reporting


Required Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of OSP Construction Standards and Practices
  • Strong knowledge of OSP Unit Descriptions and SSP contracts
  • Strong knowledge of State, Local, and Company standards for Safety
  • Minimum five years of combined Outside Plant construction and splicing experience
  • Physical requirements include the ability to work out of doors in inclement weather, extended driving, and lifting and carrying of moderately heavy objects
  • Candidates must be willing to work overtime, be on-call periodically for nights and weekends and work as required to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Overnight travel may occasionally be required
  • Valid driver's license is required
