Fire Protection Engineer 6

Amentum is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer 6 to be based in our Englewood, CO location. This position will perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/ mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a lead of a design, analysis or review team on the most complex engineering assignments.

-Must have passed the national NCEES fire protection engineering exam

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $140K - $180K Annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Key Responsibilities:
- Performs a range of design development, analysis, or review tasks independently.
- Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews
- Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects.
- May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments.
- Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
- Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
- Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
- Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
- Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
- Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
- Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
- Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
- May organize and supervise a group of employees for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance.
- Develop engineering deliverables, scope of work, budget (engineering hours) and schedule
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Requirements:
-Bachelors degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related , or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent.

-Experience in major aspects of industrial fire protection and life safety, and major codes and standards, including:
- NFPA suppression system standards (water, foam, foam-water, gaseous)
- NFPA alarm system standards (including air aspiration)
- DOE and DOD
- API
- ICC
- FM Global Data Sheets
-Special hazards, including:
- Electric generating plants (hydroelectric, fossil fuels)
- Facilities handling nuclear materials
- Battery energy storage systems
- Flammable and combustible liquids
- LNG and LPG
- Explosions and deflagrations
- Existing facility evaluations
- Fire hazard and risk evaluations / analysis
- Fire modeling
- Life safety (NFPA, IBC/IFC, OSHA)
- Performance based design
- Hydraulic analysis
-Computer skills:
- Hydraulic analysis software (e.g., HASS, HydraCALC)
-Communication skills:
- Must be able to communicate complex ideas clearly and in a manner readily understood by stakeholders outside the fire protection profession
- Must be able to write clearly and succinctly
- Must be able to engage stakeholders (client, authority, management) in discussions related to fire and life safety issues and clearly communicate ...
- Must be familiar with Earned Value Measurement System (EVMS)
- Due to nature of the work, candidate must be US Citizen. No dual Citizens
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desirable to be familiar with various CAD programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD (and HydraCalc)
