Kearney & Company is seeking a Consultant to join our Alexandria, VA team supporting one of the Federal government’s largest agencies!Duties include but are not limited to:Supporting the Department of the Navy (DON) audit response, audit remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and/or accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), and/or relevant Department of the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policies.Managing sub-task/project plan: prioritize activities, meet established deadlines, work closely with the client and Kearney team, seek out and provide value-added servicesDriving improvements to achieve engagement goalsWorking closely with the client and Kearney team and serve as the primary client-facing point of contact for Kearney Demonstrating excellent writing and communication skills as significant time is spent drafting/updating communication artifacts (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Guides, whitepapers)Demonstrating strong customer service skills and the ability to work in occasional high-pressure situations with short deadlinesDirecting and reviewing the work of Consultants and Senior AssociateCommunicating status of project-related tasks to Team Lead and clientQualificationsRequired Qualifications:BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university (Accounting, Business, or similar preferred)Minimum of 4 years of progressive, relevant experience, including experience leading financial management or business systems modernization/sustainment and related projectsAbility to obtain and maintain an U.S. Secret security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)Experience performing financial reporting and compilation within the federal governmentStrong knowledge of federal generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and concepts, and the ability to apply them to a variety of financial reporting tasks. This includes expertise in SFFAS, TFM, USSGL, and OMB A-136Proficiency in performing general ledger analysis, including identifying tie-point errors, abnormal balances, and variances. Ability to interpret results to determine root causesSkill in assessing agency compliance with federal accounting standards based on general ledger analysisExperience conducting analysis of general ledger system posting logic and proposing appropriate system changesStrong leadership skills with the ability to manage a small financial reporting team effectivelyPreferred Qualifications:One of the following professional certifications: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM or CDFM. Experience working with the Federal Government and/or DoD clients Experience in federal/DoD financial statement auditing, audit remediation, and audit readinessExperience researching and applying FASAB, OMB, and Treasury requirements including OMB Circular A-136, and/or the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM), Tie Points, Trading Partner, Accounts Payable, Accounts ReceivableExperience in federal/DoD financial statement auditing, audit remediation, and audit readinessExperience developing/executing corrective action plans and milestonesProficient skills in MS ExcelExperience with SharePoint, Oracle, ACL Analytics, PowerBI, and/or Access databasesExperience working with DFAS reporting policy and proceduresOverviewExclusively focused on the Government, Kearney & Company provides financial services, including auditing, consulting, and technology services.
