We are committed to practicing work/life balance and offer extremely competitive salary and benefit packages.Essential ResponsibilitiesApplying the technical skills to perform an effective review of all types of tax returns. This means performing the necessary level of review to ensure that relevant issues have been identified and resolved, planning opportunities explored, and that returns are complete and ready for Partner review.Handle compliance engagements, from scheduling to managing staff.Perform research and draft memoranda on real estate and construction related issues.Train and supervise staff, review and evaluate their work.Make suggestions to help improve efficiencies, within department and on engagements.Interact closely with clients to provide innovative individual and corporate tax planning, consulting and compliance services in a timely and effective manner.Provide proper representation with taxing authorities for clients under federal or state examination.Supervise, develop, train and mentor staff including performance and engagement reviews.Be involved in practice development efforts of the firm.Provide on the job training to subordinates.Assist Partners with preparation of engagement budgets.Review staff work product and ensure firm processes and quality control procedures are being executed.Work closely with Partners, Senior Managers, Managers and staff on client management, professional development and business development activities.Attend professional development and continuing education sessions on a regular basis.Other related duties as assigned.QualificationsThe successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:Masters in Taxation is preferred.CPA license is required.7 or more years of Public Accounting Experience with a Real Estate or Construction emphasis.Good communication skills (both verbal and writing skills) and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, Managers, and Partners.Good judgement and the ability to work independently.Must have outstanding work ethic, willing to roll up sleeves work attitude.Possess strong writing skills for responding to problem resolutions for tax notices.Ability to both review engagements and manage multiple clients.Knowledge of S Corporation, partnership, and individual taxation a plus.Knowledge of CCH Axcess, GoFileRoom, CCH ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.Specialization in real estate/construction and experience in preparation and review of both individual and corporate returns and flow through entity tax areas for the real estate/construction industry.Working in the Costa Mesa office three days per week or more is recommended.
