As a member of the Satellite Connectivity Group, you will work on the satellite network that enables connectivity to iPhone when off the grid without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Every day, Apple customers use Emergency SOS via satellite to access emergency assistance when they are in need of help and have no other means to communicate. You will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape this and other critical services to the benefit and safety of millions of Apple device users.
We are looking for a senior engineer that has experience with the design of sophisticated & efficient over-the-air wireless protocols, and with delivering high-performance software that runs in a distributed setting. You should be able to define collaboratively an air interface specification, reason about the implications of design choices in the context of a constrained radio link, and simulate communications. You should also be able to create clever algorithms to solve complex computational problems, write efficient code using modern paradigms, and follow industry-standard software development & deployment process to contribute to a production system.
Minimum QualificationsStrong background in wireless communications protocols (PHY, MAC)Modern Python proficiency5 years of experience in wireless communications and software engineeringBachelors degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems)Sharp analytical skills to debug issues across network protocol stack layers, including root cause analysis from logs and metricsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships across functional areasPreferred QualificationsExperience with Software Defined RadioExperience developing large-scale distributed systemsExperience with cryptography & channel codingExperience profiling and developing highly performant codeC/C++/Golang proficiencyMasters or Ph.D. in Engineering (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems)Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
