We focus on forward-looking experimentation and harness cutting-edge technology to uncover what makes games fun for humans.As Director of Machine Learning, reporting to the Head of Research and Innovation, you will own the research strategy for our innovation roadmap. You will forge our team's strategy by combining the latest research inside and outside of EA and applying it to video games. Your mission is to discover new technologies and interactive experiences that will redefine gameplay. You will identify research targets, define and drive the team's experimentation plan, implement and demonstrate new models, and contribute to a strategy that brings the future of gaming to life at EA Sports.Your Responsibilities:Lead and drive the ML research strategy to create new player experiences, exploring frontier technologies to shape the future of Sports GamingWork closely with the engineering team to support experiments with tooling and platforms, as well as data acquisition and managementFacilitate the sharing of results through presentations, papers, prototypes and compelling interactive demonstrationsStay abreast of the latest advancements in relevant technologies and propose impactful projects to drive innovationCollaborate with game teams to understand their design goals and build strategies to discover new engaging experiencesBuild and manage a high performing team by fostering an engaging, fulfilling and fun working environmentCollaborate with a diverse range of partners, including research, engineering, and game development teamsYour Qualifications:PhD in Computer Science, mathematics or related field, or equivalent research experienceExtensive experience with machine learning and familiarity with multiple ML techniques such as transformer models and diffusion modelsStrong technical background, experience working with both research and engineering, and a proven track record of deliveryExperience leading a team of advanced scientistsDemonstrated success turning new ideas into effective implementationsCeci ne s’applique pas au Québec. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). BASE SALARY RANGESBritish Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)$160,200 - $229,100 CADCalifornia (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento)$185,300 - $278,800 USDBase salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
