We work closely with Product, Strategy, Operations, and Data Science teams to create comprehensive solutions that not only protect Stripe but also enable our merchants to thrive in a secure environment. What you’ll doWe’re looking for an engineering leader to lead and grow a strong team of engineers, build relationships with customers internally and externally, champion our vision of making Stripe’s risk management a feature that attracts and retains merchants, and become a product differentiator. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with teams across Stripe to build the best merchant experience, and contribute directly to Stripe’s growth.ResponsibilitiesSetting the vision, goals & strategy for the team based on business goalsSupport the team in delivering a high level of technical quality and impact, user-facing experiences, services, and systemsRecruit, hire, scale, and develop an amazing team of engineersExecuting cross-functionally with product teams, infra teams & risk strategistsBe actively involved in strategic direction and platform decisions that impact all of Stripe and Stripe customersWho you areWe're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Minimum requirements4+ years of direct engineering management experienceYou have managed team(s) that can collaborate with product teams, respond rapidly to customer needs along with building technology and capabilities that are strategic and foundational in natureYou are empathetic to customer needs and dedicated to improving user experiences, particularly for those erroneously affected by fraud decisionsYou are able to make tough prioritization decisions amidst competing prioritiesPreferred qualificationsHave experience in adversarial domains like Fraud, Trust, or SafetyHave experience building and shipping ML systemsYou are comfortable working with geographically distributed teams and remote workersEnjoy designing, measuring & improving user experienceYou are comfortable planning in quarters, and can set a vision for several yearsHave experience building scalable backend infrastructure
