A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in New York is currently seeking an experienced Finance professional to join their staff as their new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for overseeing and directing budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.

Responsibilities:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will:

  • Drive strategic growth through meticulous monitoring of economic conditions, industry standards, and market trends.
  • Utilize expertise in reimbursement models, key performance indicators, and policies to align financial decisions with organizational goals.
  • Establish and enforce financial standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as NYS Article 28, Article 31, and HRSA 330 grant mandates.
  • Ensure legal compliance by staying updated on federal, state, and local requirements, advising management on necessary actions.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and decision-support information to the CEO, Board of Directors, and management team.
  • Identify opportunities for financial performance improvement, implementing cost-effective solutions for efficient operations.
  • Manage cash assets, maximizing returns while minimizing risk, and recommend investment strategies for organizational financial health.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices, trends, and innovative technologies to enhance financial operations.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of financial personnel to build a strong finance team.
  • Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, including management experience in complex nonprofit organizations
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience and managing staff in the areas of payroll, A/P, general ledger entry, grant vouchering and purchasing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or a related field
Desired Skills:
  • CPA
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration
  • Experience working within the Healthcare industry or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
  • Federal, State and Local grant knowledge
