Greenwich Public Schools is seeking a 0.5 Learning Facilitator for Cos Cob Elementary School. This posting is for an anticipated three-year term beginning with the 2024-25 school year.
This position is available only to current GPS teachers contracted to teach at Cos Cob Elementary School for 2024-25.
Primary Function- The learning facilitator is a peer leader for the teaching staff. The LF's primary function is to support the achievement of schools and district goals to improve student learning. He/she reports directly to the school principal or his/her designee.

  • Improvement of Instruction: Assists staff members in planning, delivering, and assessing instructional programs. Informed about current research and practices, the LF serves as a resource to teachers.
  • Provides leadership in curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, assessment, coordination, articulation, and integration within and across disciplines.
  • Monitors the implementation of curriculum.
  • Assists in planning and implementation of curriculum projects.
  • Assists in selecting materials, textbooks, equipment, and supplies for students.
  • Keeps lines of communication open between administration and staff.
  • Fosters collegial interactions and collaborative planning between and among staff members.
  • May serve as a member of the school's staff development committee.
Work Year and Compensation

Teacher-based employment plus 4 days for Elementary School. Salary based on the collective bargaining agreement between Greenwich Board of Education and the Greenwich Education Association. Release time may or may not be provided for this position depending on priorities and available resources. Elementary School LF's must work two days prior to the school year and two days at the end of the school year. These days are set aside for planning and/or curriculum review.

Additional days may be needed throughout the year for planning and/or curriculum development. These days are on an as-needed basis and are never to exceed five days. These days will be compensated through growth and development funds.

Duration

School-based positions are subject to annual review and appointment for the maximum of three years, at which point the position must be posted. Teachers may apply for a second term, but may serve no more than six years (two terms) without a break in service. In the event no other qualified candidate applies in response to the vacancy posting at the conclusion of six years, the teacher may reapply.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with administrators, teachers, faculty and students
  • Demonstrated high level of professional competence and leadership
  • MA degree, CT certification, with at least three years of successful teaching experience
