The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, Urologist. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. You'll enjoy a unique combination of two great American heritages: a little Cajun, and since we're less than 15 minutes from the Texas border, a little Lone Star, too. Candidates must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and good health of our Veterans. Highlights of this position include:

  • Competitive Starting Salary $300,000 - $400,000
  • Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm. 
  • Provides quality patient care to both inpatients and outpatients in accordance with approved clinical privileges.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary activities involving the treatment plan and discharge plan of patients.
  • Successfully integrates patient care activities on the Surgical Services with other patient care programs at the Medical Center.
  • Serves as staff attending for patients on the Surgical Service, who are either outpatient or inpatients, or see in consultation.
  • Provides guidance and clinical supervision for the nurse practitioners, physician assistants and health technicians assigned to the Surgical Service when appropriate.
  • Provides guidance and supervision for the medical students and residents assigned to the Surgical Service in accordance to the Medical Center policy.
  • Participates and attends Medical Center committee meetings as assigned by the Chief, Surgical Service.
  • Exhibits leadership in initiating change in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from evidence-based research and studies.
  • Assists in the development , implementation and provides input on staff assigned in their area.
  • Must have full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certified or board eligible.
