Department Overview:

The Department of Radiology is rapidly growing, with expanded services at off-site imaging centers, and renovations to our existing clinical spaces and new spaces through the medical center strategic expansion project ($3+ Billion):

  • Main campus: New construction of a state-of-the-art 830-bed Hospital Tower, a biomedical research tower, and a Health Sciences building that will house the College of Medicine
  • Around the city: Construction of 2 newly designed ambulatory care centers in New Albany and Dublin is now completed and open, in addition to 16 established ambulatory care centers up and running today.

Position Overview:

The Department of Radiology at The Ohio State University (OSU) is currently seeking applicants for tenure-track physician faculty. Rank of assistant, associate or full professor and startup package are commensurate with academic record and experience. The OSU College of Medicine and Department of Radiology have made significant commitments towards expanding medical imaging research, with strategic focus areas including magnetic resonance and molecular imaging in cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neuroscience. As part of the College of Medicine at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, the Department of Radiology provides an academic home for medical imaging research and training at Ohio State. Faculty in the College of Medicine have access to resources to assist in grant writing, management, and to stimulate collaboration, and has established resources in clinical data and high-performance computing and data storage. The Ohio State University is one of the nation's largest integrated health sciences campuses, with access to a CTSA-funded Center for Clinical and Translational Science and a state-of-the-art 1 million square foot, NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and James Comprehensive Cancer Center are nationally recognized for clinical, educational, and research excellence. We are one of the largest health systems in the state of Ohio and serve a large and diverse patient population. The Ohio State University College of Medicine has annual research funding of over $400M, including NIH grant funding of $237M. The Department of Radiology has over 70 faculty members and a large array of imaging facilities on the main OSU campus and at multiple satellite clinics across central Ohio, conducive to clinical research. The Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical Imaging houses imaging research faculty and an array of imaging equipment, including Siemens 0.55T Free.Max, 3T Vida, and Philips 3T MRI systems, plus a Philips Vereos PET/CT scanner. The newly opened Carmenton Innovation District includes the Pelotonia Research Center and James Outpatient Care Center that houses Ohio s first proton therapy center. Construction is also underway on a state-of-the-art 830-bed hospital tower, a biomedical research tower, and a Health Sciences building that will house the College of Medicine.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Successful candidates for tenure-track positions are expected to develop and lead an independent research program. For most candidates, this will involve participation in institutional efforts to translate novel imaging technologies and methodologies into clinical practice. However, qualified candidates with a focus on basic research or health services research are also encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to secure grant funding, mentor trainees, and work collaboratively with investigators across the College of Medicine and the university.

Requirements:

  • Senior level appointment requires an established history of research accomplishment and grant funding, as well as active grants
  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD in imaging and/or imaging-related fields.
  • Board certification in Radiology (ABR, AOBR)
  • Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio
  • Must support and embrace the diverse and inclusive culture of College of Medicine, the Medical Center, and the University

Ideal candidate may have research interests and a track record of success in any of multiple areas of research, but the following areas of research are of particular interest:

  • Translational research in MRI applications in cancer, cardiovascular disease, neuroscience, or MRI-guided interventions.
  • Translational research in molecular imaging applications in cancer, cardiovascular disease, or neuroscience.
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in medical imaging, ranging from image reconstruction and image analysis to deep learning based medical imaging report generation and analysis.

Compensation Package:

Salary: Commensurate with experience level, $25,000 Bonus, $10,000 Relocation Assistance
