Preschool Assistant

Pay Rates for 2024-2025

Preschool and Special Education - LBD or MSD/FMD

$12.22/hour or $13.22 with Bachelor's Degree (transcripts needed)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or equivalent

and must pass Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment Test.

2. Must meet Physical Performance Requirements.

3. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board

may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS: Preschool Coordinator and Preschool Teacher

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

JOB GOAL: Establish a positive relationship with preschool students, faculty, and parents, and help children learn. Conducts home visits as directed by classroom Lead Teacher.

BASIC FUNCTION: Assist a certified teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups typically in programs with exceptional children or equivalent programs; monitor and report student progress.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assists the teacher in preparing the classroom activities, and works with individual children or small groups of students to reinforce or follow-up what has been taught by the teacher. Supervises the classroom when teacher has to leave the room.
  2. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of students and promotes character building and human relations.
  3. Preserves and maintains the confidentiality of all school business.
  4. Cares for materials and equipment and assists with displays and classroom arrangements.
  5. Assists the teacher with non-instructional duties such as, but not limited to, cafeteria and playground supervision, field trips, toilet and clothing routines, and assists students loading, unloading and riding the bus.
  6. Participates in training programs or meetings as required.
  7. Provides and performs student health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law.
  8. Moves around and circulates in assigned areas.
  9. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Preschool Teacher, Preschool Coordinator, or Superintendent.

TERM OF SERVICE: Salary and workdays/jobs to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with

provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
