SUMMARY

UnidosUS seeks a Senior Program Development Specialist to support the Housing & Financial Empowerment (HFE) programs department in its efforts to incentivize and promote homeownership for Latinos. The Senior Program Development Specialist will work closely with other HFE staff supporting and understanding the needs and opportunities of the housing counseling organizations participating in the UnidosUS Wealth & Housing Alliance (UWHA). This position will also support programming related to the Homeownership Means Equity (HOME) initiative, a multi-year campaign to enable the creation of four million new Hispanic homeowners by 2030.

UnidosUS HFE aims to build the wealth of Latino and other low- and moderate-income families through homeownership, improved housing stability, and financial security. We partner with UnidosUS Affiliates, other community-based organizations, government agencies, corporations, and private foundations to create high-quality programs that support Latinos in their wealth building journey and achieve economic prosperity.

Preferred locations include Washington, DC (hybrid), Phoenix, AZ (hybrid), Los Angeles, CA (hybrid) or New York, NY (remote). but will consider other cities located in the following states for remote work. Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Washington State.

SALARY

Washington, DC: $75,697-$82,377
Los Angeles, CA: $75,129-$81,759
New York, NY: $77,967-$84,848
Phoenix, AZ: $67,370-$73,315

Salary differentials may apply in other locations.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver effective and timely training and technical assistance to UWHA partner housing counseling agencies.
  • Play a lead role in operationalizing and managing grants, particularly those received to support the HOME Initiative.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project oversight policies and procedures.
  • Identify and define program requirements, scope, and objectives and use this information to generate ideas that lead to program and partnership opportunities.
  • Coordinate new program or project planning and implementation, including assessing needs, setting goals and objectives, and ensuring successful follow-through on planned activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, timeframes, schedule, and budget.
  • Establish and maintain internal and external relationships that support the UWHA and overall UnidosUS programming.
  • Research, analyze, document, and prepare reports that can serve as resources for UnidosUS and project participants.
  • Identify and communicate project barriers and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use project management tools to monitor project working hours, budget, plans and expenses incurred in conjunction with component accounting and reporting department.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports.
  • The ability to travel occasionally to engage with local partners and planning events.
Required Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience managing U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) approved housing counseling programs.
  • Eight (8) years of experience partnering with mortgage lenders.
  • Experience coordinating HUD housing counseling program compliance and reporting.
  • Intermediate level expertise in MS 365 Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Zoom.
  • Familiarity with Monday.com, Asana, or similar project management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the Latino community.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with mortgage products, lending programs and loan application process.
  • Experience working in a community-based organization or national nonprofit intermediary.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Latino community and Latino nonprofit organizations.
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English and Spanish.
  • Experience with QuickBase, Salesforce, or similar CRM systems.
