Job Summary
Home of Guiding Hands is seeking a creative and motivated Marketing Intern to join our team. The intern will focus on content creation, social media management, flyer design, and email marketing. We can accommodate part-time or full-time schedules but require a commitment of at least 10-15 hours per week with flexible in-office hours. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, has strong writing and design skills, is familiar with social media platforms, and has a basic understanding of digital marketing. Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.

Home of Guiding Hands is a non-profit organization that was established in 1967 by a small group of dedicated and ambitious community members. The Mission of HGH is "to improve the lives of those we serve". We support children and adults in San Diego and Imperial Counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome, epilepsy, autism, and cerebral palsy. We provide a full continuum of care including residential care in specialized group homes, independent living support, respite care, and adult foster home services. Additionally, we provide early childhood assessments and services, tailored day support, Life Planning workshops, county-wide transportation services, and on-site activities at our resource center.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Graphic Design:
- Creates visually appealing graphics for social media, newsletters, flyers, and other marketing materials.
- Assists in designing promotional materials for events and campaigns.
- Maintains and updates visual branding elements to ensure consistency across all platforms.
- Collaborates with the marketing team to develop creative concepts and design solutions.
- Social Media Content:
- Develops and schedules engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Monitors social media channels for trends, comments, and direct messages, responding as appropriate.
- Analyzes social media performance and provides insights to improve engagement and reach.
- Assists in growing the organization's online community by identifying opportunities to engage with new audiences.
- Marketing Campaign Support:
- Assists in the development and execution of marketing campaigns to promote the organization's mission and services.
- Helps coordinate marketing efforts for special events, such as fundraisers and community outreach programs.
- Supports email marketing initiatives by creating content and managing distribution lists.
- Content Creation:
- Writes and edits copy for social media posts, blog articles, newsletters, and other digital content.
- Collaborates with team members to brainstorm and generate new content ideas.
- Assists in maintaining the organization's website by updating content and ensuring accuracy.
- Administrative Support:
- Helps manage the organization's digital asset library, including organizing and archiving photos, videos, and graphics.
- Supports the marketing team in tracking project timelines and deliverables.
- Participates in team meetings and contributes creative ideas to marketing strategies.
- Research and Reporting:
- Conducts market research to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices in non-profit marketing.
- Assists in preparing reports on marketing activities, including social media analytics and campaign performance.

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Marketing, Communications, or related program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- A passion for non-profit work and making a difference in the community.
