Location: Kankakee County, IL
Salary: up to $90,000 + Quarterly Bonus Eligible + Comprehensive Benefits

Polymer Chemist - Research & Development Description

Our client in the electrical and electronics manufacturing industry is seeking a Polymer Chemist to join their R&D team in Kankakee, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for manipulating molecular structures and processing characteristics in polymer materials for cable production. The position involves maintenance and quality control (70%) and research and development (30%), focusing on CPE base formulations. Qualified candidates will have experience in formulating polymers (such as Polyethylene, Polypropylenes, Epoxies, and/or Polyurethanes) within the manufacturing industry, contributing to both research and product development, and an overall good understanding of physical chemistry. To be successful in this role, you must be able to take broad direction and run with it, while working independently to manage assigned projects. Polymer Chemist - Research & Development Responsibilities

• Develop and refine CPE based formulations for robotic welding cables
• Conduct daily quality control on production compounding and extrusion
• Ensure regulatory compliance with RoHS and REACH standards
• Transition products from development to production and operations
• Manage multiple R&D projects concurrently, adhering to timelines and budgets
• Conduct testing and analysis to validate product performance
• Prepare and present technical reports to stakeholders

Polymer Chemist - Research & Development Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Polymer formulation in a manufacturing environment experience required
• Experience with research and product development in manufacturing required
• Good understanding of physical chemistry is required
• Proficiency in project management, data analysis and technical writing required
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office, specifically Excel, required
