Leidos is hiring a Network Security Engineer for the Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) Contract, supporting the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) to be located at Norfolk, VA. This role involves advanced support of enterprise Firewall, DMZ, IPS, and VPN appliances. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience and leadership skills to successfully execute the mission of the Navy's largest IT services program: SMIT. Under the SMIT Contract, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, network engineering, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.
What You'll Get to Do:
• Lead in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving complex security issues in a fast-paced and quickly evolving environment by configuring and maintaining Firewalls, VPN, DMZ, and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), ensuring continuous threat protection.
• Support Current Operations by providing expertise for the largest Intranet in the world.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve network security operations.
• Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP).
• Tier III escalation support and vendor engagement supporting Incident Management.
• Apply extensive knowledge of defense-in-depth principles.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.
• Participate in engineering and project meetings for future enterprise solutions.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
• Requires B.S. Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. Work experience may be substituted for education at Hiring Manager's discretion.
• Must be a US Citizen and have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
• Minimum of DoD 8570.01 IAT Level III Certification (CCNP Security, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.).
• A Network Vendor Certification (Cisco, Juniper, McAfee, Trellix, Aruba, F5, Palo Alto).
• Network Security Subject Matter Expertise.
• Ability to Perform highly technical network security maintenance and configurations.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting networks, including routing, switching, MPLS, VPNs, routing protocols, switching protocols, and multicast.
• Willingness to rotate on-call and work during off-hours to meet program requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 25% including OCONUS potential travel.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Previous work experience providing support to the NMCI network.
• Previous work experience providing support to a DoD program.
