Title: Manager, Tax
Division & Department: Corporate Tax and Compliance
Status: Full-Time Exempt
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Hybrid - Greater Salt Lake City, Utah area
Job Summary and Essential Job Functions
The Manager of Tax at FranklinCovey has a range of responsibilities related to tax planning, compliance, and management including:
Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the organization's tax liability while ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of all tax returns, including federal, state, and international taxes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Financial Reporting: Work closely with the finance team to provide accurate tax-related financial information for internal and external reporting, including quarterly and annual financial statements.
Tax Research: Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations and provide guidance to the company on the impact of these changes.
Risk Management: Identify and manage potential tax risks and issues, ensuring appropriate strategies are in place to mitigate them.
Tax Audits: Manage and coordinate tax audits by relevant tax authorities and ensure that all necessary documentation is provided.
Transfer Pricing: Oversee transfer pricing strategies and documentation, ensuring compliance with international regulations.
Tax Strategy Development: Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for business operations, mergers and acquisitions, and other transactions
Tax Accounting: Manage the company's tax accounting processes, including the calculation of income tax provisions and deferred taxes. Ensure proper legal entity accounting.
Tax Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the tax team, providing guidance and support to ensure the department's success. Prepare and monitor tax department budget. Approve tax department expenditures.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a directly related field.
- 5+ years of corporate tax experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in income tax provision, federal and state income tax returns, and knowledge of corporate ERP systems.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with tax technology solutions and tools. Advanced certification/degree (CPA, Master's in Taxation).
- Expertise in international tax aspects of federal tax compliance, including foreign tax credit, GILTI, FDII and forms 5471.
- Experience as a corporate Tax Manager in a business enterprise or public accounting firm.
- Experience in a multinational or publicly traded company.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions from a tax perspective.
- Proven success in implementing process improvements and automation in tax functions.
