The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As an Industrial Hygienist/Ergonomist you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leads incident investigations impacting employee health
  • Develops and implements comprehensive industrial hygiene program consisting of such components as hearing conservation, respiratory protection and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Manages all Industrial Hygiene (IH/Ergonomics) related internal company requirements, i.e. Global Safety and Health Plan (GSHP) elements
  • Conducts personal sampling to determine potential impact from environmental factors
  • Develops & conducts IH/Ergonomics-related training
  • Conducts Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) investigations & determines appropriate remediation
  • Review new chemical compositions and equipment entering the facility for IH/Ergonomics concerns
  • Providing assistance/visiting sites regionally (15-25% of the time)


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Science (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) years of combined experience working in an Industrial Hygiene, Safety and/or Ergonomics position in a private, public, government or military environment.


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree in industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Public Health or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Certified Ergonomics Assessment Certification
  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or willingness to obtain within the first 18 months of employment at 3M
  • Experience in a plant manufacturing environment
  • Experience in investigation of IAQ issues
  • Experience with an IH/Ergonomics data management program (such as WorkCHEC-applies to internal applicants only)
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Microsoft Office proficient

  • Hutchinson, MN.


Travel: May include up to 25% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $119,076 - $145,537, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
