The executive assistant serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all matters, both for the president of Minnesota Public Radio and the senior vice president of development.

This is not solely an administrative role; it is a strategic and facilitative one that requires a combination of focus and flexibility and a willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role. It requires a high degree of discretion, self-direction and resourcefulness, strong emotional intelligence, and solid analytical skills. This role is expected to communicate changes in prioritization and decision-making efficiently and be capable of carrying out multiple projects while effectively prioritizing tasks to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the executives and in support of the organization's mission. The ideal candidate will serve as a critical thought partner, helping integrate work across the enterprise.

Expected Compensation Range: $80,000 - $90,000/yr. The exact salary is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Your Role:

Administrative:

  • Enable meeting of deadlines and deliverables through strategic calendar management, prioritizing inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts, making judgments and recommendations to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Ensure executive time is leveraged effectively guaranteeing agendas are set and that executives are prepared in advance for meetings
  • Supports alignment, planning, and execution for critical path meetings and deliverables including board committees, quarterly leadership meetings, annual planning and budget cycles, and team meetings and events.
  • Provides high-level administrative support and assistance for the executives and/or other assigned leadership, including development of presentations and reports
  • Work closely with both the President of MPR and the SVP of Development to keep them well-informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities. Act as a "barometer," having a sense for the issues taking place in the environment and keeping the executive updated. Anticipate executive needs in advance of meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Proactive identification of issues that could impact the successful execution of the executives' commitments, elevating those issues about which they should be aware and framing/positioning ideas to resolve the problem/mitigate the risk
  • Act as liaison between departments and Human Resources to support onboarding and offboarding
  • Assist in facilitating recurring team meetings
  • Manage special projects and assignments on demand
  • Support alignment of priorities within the executives' teams, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Serve as a departmental subject matter expert, handling inquiries and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communications
  • Partner with executives' direct reports on project coordination and business administration
  • General administrative management including travel planning, expense reports, and timecard approval
  • Collaborate with the Executive Assistant team to ensure executive team alignment and support work that has an enterprise-wide impact as well as provide cross-team support for other executives as needed

Department Specific:

President, Minnesota Public Radio

  • Facilitate weekly MPR Leadership meetings, ensuring agendas are prepared, materials are shared in advance and the cadence is effective
  • Support execution of MPR events
  • High-volume calendar management
  • Create a balance between internal and external commitments, ensuring deadlines can be met while managing highly complex community engagement and travel schedules


Senior Vice President, Development

  • Facilitate quarterly board committee and associated work to execute a seamless meeting - align to the broader board planning calendar.
  • Coordinate board meeting deliverables for SVP and direct reports as well as campaign consulting team
  • Support SVP's fundraising commitments, including meeting preparation, stakeholder alignment, and donor engagement
  • Support campaign and board events

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of administrative, operations or project management experience and/or a demonstrated transferable skillset
