Kimley-Horn's Sacramento, CA office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Electrical team! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
- Design of electrical systems including solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging
- Delegate tasks to junior staff or other team members
- QA/QC design documents
- Review, comment and approve equipment submittalsp4
- Respond to RFI's
- Conduct or oversee power system studies such as short circuit, thermal ampacity, and load flow
- Technical problem solving and resolving
- Participate on project teams in an active production role
- Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
- Preparation of project specifications
- Support senior staff with preparing electrical design cost estimates and proposals
- Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
- Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
- Perform quality work that promotes client retention
- Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including solar photovoltaic electrical site plans, equipment selection, photovoltaic module string sizing calculations, ampacity calculations and wire sizing
Qualifications
- 4+ years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in any of the following: Solar PV design, Battery energy storage, or energy modeling
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degrees are a plus)
- PE or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
- Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
- Previous experience with solar production modeling is a plus
- Previous experience with electrical solar photovoltaic design or battery storage is a plus
- Passion for renewables
- Electrical Power System Studies, Electrical lighting, and fire alarm design experience desired
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Salary Range:
$130,000 - $180,000
