Position Overview
An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Sensor Engineer in the Development Engineering team at ifm prover USA. The candidate will be heavily involved with developing and building prototype designs
and testing cutting-edge prototype sensors. This position will work in collaboration with our development team (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Software engineering) on studying and testing new innovative sensing solutions for temperature and/ or flow sensors.

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic candidate who holds a Bachelor's degree in physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about tackling open-ended problems that encompass multiple engineering disciplines. They should possess a passion for creating innovative devices and technologies, be adaptable and eager to learn on the go, excel at solving complex problems, collaborate closely with others, and approach design and engineering tasks with a creative mindset at all levels. Strong communication skills, including technical writing, are a must, as well as the ability to conduct independent research, effectively report results, and make well-informed recommendations for next steps.
Experience in designing experiments (DOE) and conducting data analysis is highly valued. This skill set will enable candidate to effectively plan and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and derive meaningful insights to guide the development of our systems. Moreover, the ability to utilize logical reasoning when evaluating and synthesizing information from various sources is important. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-visibility environment with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team.

- Execute feasibility studies for new sensing solutions, carefully assessing potential opportunities and risks.
- Design experiments, collect and analyze real-world data to demonstrate suitability for use, robustness, and effectiveness in the intended application.
- Resolve complex engineering problems and collaborate with other engineers to integrate cutting-edge functionalities into innovative prototypes.
- Enhance existing development tests and explore new methods to drive continuous improvement.
- Thoroughly document test procedures, present results to the team, and make recommendations for next steps in the sensor design process.

Nice-to-Have Skills:
- 3 years of experience in an engineering development environment
- Demonstrated experience in building sensor prototypes, testing them in a lab environment and successively adjusted the prototype design to meet design goals
- LabView and analysis experience (Design of experiment) preferred.
- Programming and scripting (MATLAB or Python preferred)
- Knowledge of basic engineering materials (plastics and metals)
- Detail oriented and capable of handling multiple assignments at once
- Curious, willing to learn new skills, and share knowledge
