Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will perform all aspects of accounting to ensure efficient processes are in place while producing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position will be a critical hands-on role for Emerald Built Environments in Cleveland, Ohio. This individual will participate in building a highly scalable, best-in-class accounting system as a key partner with the leadership team.

The Senior Accountant will perform all aspects of accounting to ensure efficient processes are in place while producing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This individual will participate in building a highly scalable, best-in-class accounting system as a key partner with the leadership team.
Key Deliverables
- Prepare and manage all accounting department activities, including invoice processing, accounts payable, vendor payments, billings & collections, cashflow, fixed assets, payroll, reconciliations, some HR and benefits
- Monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP
- Optimize, develop and monitor adherence to internal policies, procedures, and controls
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure accounting of month-end close responsibilities are completed timely; implement robust processes to ensure financial statement integrity, including balance sheet account reconciliations and income statement analysis
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to address AP-related inquiries and discrepancies
- Assist with payroll process and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements
- Work closely with Emerald leadership to facilitate efficient operations
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and cost savings
- Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations and coordinating with external auditors to ensure successful engagement
- Support team with key strategic and process improvement initiatives
- Assist with new technology implementation as needed
- Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
Minimum
- 4+ years of prior accounting experience in a similar role
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
- Experience with Construction/Contractor accounting
- Experience with new system implementations
- Strong systems proficiency, ability to navigate multiple platforms
- Strong ability to communicate accounting and financial information using common language
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements
- Extreme organization and priority setting skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail with high level of accuracy
- Highly motivated, able to take initiative, and comfortable working independently

Preferred
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum and Build Ops
- Public accounting experience (strongly preferred)
- Active CPA license
- Master's degree in accounting
- FSA Credential
