Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions.In this position, you will get to:• Build the R&D technology roadmap by architecting the strategic direction of our Data Solutions Cooling & Networking business and ensure our technological advancements align with both company goals and customer needs.• Lead the R&D team through project leadership, project execution, technical leadership, and cross-functional cooperation; migrate culture to increased tolerance of risk, and higher levels of speed.• Foster cross-functional collaboration by working closely with global regional engineering teams, product management, and various stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and successful NPI development initiatives.• Drive to global product families while ensuring local-market differences both in features and price are addressed.• Participate in talent development activities, succession planning, talent risk mitigation, and performance management. Develop existing and future leaders for future roles within the company.• Drive on-time product launches in coordination with product management, sales, and marketing.• Lead sustaining engineering team focused on continuously improving and supporting our current and future product offerings.• Contribute to platform strategy, growth initiatives, and short and long-term goals.• Maintain budgetary control for the Data Solutions Cooling & Networking R&D engineering function.• Ensure strong project management of projects and migrate to more disciplined approaches.• Contribute to development and execution of roadmap for engineering IT systems (PDM, CAD, ECO, Part # Creation, etc.)• Interface with Manufacturing Technology and Process Engineering teams to recommend, justify, and drive the acquisition of new equipment or facility modifications to meet the process and production needs of the business.• Develop and utilize performance metrics for all areas of direct responsibility to maintain alignment of team performance and company goals.• Support acquisition activity.• Consult on custom projects without draining resources focused on new products on an as- needed basis. Partner with non-standard engineering leadership to ensure non-standard products meet appropriate standards.YOU HAVE:• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or other Engineering discipline, MS or MBA preferred• 16+ years of progressive and relevant engineering leadership experience in manufacturing• 8+ years demonstrated success in leading a global team of engineers, preferably in precision machining or metal fabrication• Global experience desirable• Ability to integrate innovation across platforms and components• In-depth knowledge in cooling systems and heat transfer• In-depth knowledge in electrical & electronics engineering• Proven track record to use product knowledge to make excellent decisions that result in improved customer satisfaction and is looked upon by others as resource for that knowledgeWE HAVE:A dynamic global reach with diverse operations around the world that will stretch your abilities, provide plentiful career opportunities, and allow you to make an impact every dayAt nVent, we believe safer systems ensure a more secure world.
