By collaborating with other product development groups across Apple, you’ll push the industry boundaries of what batteries can do and improve the product experience for our customers across the world.DescriptionIn this role you will utilize your skills as a battery hardware qualification engineer to qualify the battery system hardware technology for next generation consumer electronics. You, as a member of the battery development core team, will work closely with cross functional teams on new product introduction. You will need to develop the qualification plan and manage the suppliers and test engineer team for execution, data analysis as well as resolving technical challenges.
• Battery system (Battery Management Unit and Pack) design qualification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality of the battery packs from.
• Interpret and review electronic specifications.
• Develop validation plan and test procedures.
• Review schematics and layout to verify conformance to determine testability.
• Supervise test engineer team and vendor partners on validation execution.
• Analyze, debug and report test results.
• International travel may be required to support development activities.Minimum QualificationsBS DegreeExperience in analog or power electronics design.Preferred QualificationsBackground (any of the following) preferred: Power Electronics, Battery Management (fuel gauge and charger), Portable Consumer Electronics, Medical Electronics or Automotive Electronics.Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout design for mixed signal boards (Cadence, Altium etc.).Proficient with protocols like SMBus, I2C, SPMI etc. desired.Experience in analog or power electronics design.Experience in electronic circuit design/development with mixed signal systems.Experience with scripting for test automation and data analysis desired.Knowledge of battery charging, and management is a plus.Experience in statistical analysis is a plus.Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
