Job DescriptionGuidance & Patient Support (GPS) Insights is an industry-leading patient support analytics and insights teams established to deliver core reporting needs and apply predictive/prescriptive insights that can be applied to continuously enhance the GPS patient experience. The function drives analyses that underpin this patient-focused department’s data-driven and innovation culture. After initially establishing foundational data quality and reporting capabilities, the team continuously innovates by adding and linking new data sets, automating dashboards for on-demand reporting, producing tools to help optimize and prioritize workload using advanced analytics and data science, and utilizing a test and learn experimentation platform to power the cycle of innovation. We are seeking a visionary leader of the GPS Insights team that shares a passion for patients and the vision and commitment to generate analytical insights that continuously enhance the patient experience. This leader will manage a team of 3 employees, 2-3 contractors, and vendor relationships.Director, Commercial Analytics - Patient InsightsKey Duties and Responsibilities:Provides strategic thinking in terms of data analysis, long-term goals for the  Insights Team, and guidance recommendations for the Leadership Team Delivers against foundational data quality and reporting capabilities core to achieving department or internal stakeholder goalsDrives continuous improvement through exploring & linking new data sets, automating dashboards for on-demand reporting, and producing tools to help optimize and prioritize daily operationsLeads the innovation engine to make the Commercial programs better using advanced analytics and data science, powering the innovation cycle through a test and learn experimentation processDelivers foundational reporting and deep dive analyses to support cross functional commercial colleagues in understanding trends, challenges, and opportunitiesProvides leadership to employees and contractors/vendors, ensuring the team is clear on priorities, coached to exceptional performance, and can collaborate exceptionally well with cross functional partnersSets vision for the role of data insights in day-to-day program operations and in driving continuous innovationManages analytics project portfolio including external budget, with a focus on initiatives core to departmental goalsChampions appropriate behaviors and continuously compliant environment; role models integrity & ethicsKnowledge and Skills:Significant technical analytic skill set including Excel, data warehouse, and advanced analytics/data science experience (including natural language processing) and (not a must) relevant coding/programmingAbility to lead and influence others in diverse settings with a spirit of continuous improvement and innovationHighly experienced at generating insights through data and analyticsExperience in coaching and inspiring a team towards clear goals and hold accountable for resultsSkilled at working in a fast paced, evolving environment with attention to detail, committed follow through, and highly developed judgement in making technical or business decisionsExcellent communication skills; patient-centric and customer-service mindedEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline requiredTypically requires 10 or more years of work experience in healthcare and/or analytics, with 3 years in leading teams and significant technical data analytics/science experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience#LI-Hybrid#LI-LN1Flex Designation:Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site EligibleFlex Eligibility Status:In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as: 1.    Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select2.    On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.Note: The Flex status for this position is subject to Vertex’s Policy on Flex @ Vertex Program and may be changed at any time.Company InformationVertex is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation.
