Responsibilities Include:

The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking a qualified Critical Care Medicine Anesthesiologist to join our team. The Department of Anesthesia is recruiting faculty members for appointment on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank.

  • Participating in team-based anesthesia care and personally providing anesthesia services.
  • Serving as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating for effective patient outcomes.
  • Active participation in the academic activities of the department and The Carver College of Medicine.
  • Supervising students, residents, fellows, SRNAs, and non-anesthesia rotators.
  • Providing developmental feedback to those under supervision, both verbally and in writing.
  • Preparing educational materials, and leading and/or attending academic lectures and professional development events.
  • Demonstrating experience in promoting an inclusive, team-based work environment.
  • Research activities are encouraged, though participation is not required for continued employment or promotion.

Requirements:

  • Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants must have a medical school degree (or equivalent) and have completed a successful residency program in anesthesiology, along with fellowship training (if applicable).
  • The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active Iowa medical license.
  • Candidates must be board-certified in Anesthesiology (or non-U.S. board equivalent) or in the certification process (pending completion of residency or fellowship). On occasion, individuals trained outside the U.S. who are certified by an equivalent national certification body may be considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working effectively in an inclusive environment and be comfortable with team-based anesthesia care.
  • Interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical research.
