Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Therapist to join the Refugee Health Assessment (RHA) program at CCI Health Services. The Behavioral Health Therapist will play a pivotal role in addressing the mental health and Psychosocial needs of refugees, asylees, and special visa holders within the program, providing culturally sensitive behavioral health interventions.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct behavioral health assessments for individuals that are referred to Behavioral Health services after a positive screen.
  • Have experience in utilizing evidence-based interventions such as CBT, MI, trauma-informed care, and/or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
  • Conduct substance abuse screenings and brief counseling or referral for addictions treatment.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on patients' expressed goals.
  • Manage patient crises as needed. Modify treatment activities and documentation to comply with changes in patients' status for accreditation or regulatory requirements.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, or supporting patients, as appropriate.
  • Monitor patients' use of medications and encourage their collaboration with prescribers.
  • Provide individual counseling and psychotherapy to address mental health concerns, trauma, and adjustment difficulties.
  • Respond to crisis situations by providing immediate support and connecting individuals with appropriate crisis intervention resources.
  • Actively contribute to a culturally diverse and inclusive work environment by fostering respect, understanding, and sensitivity towards patients and colleagues.
  • Complete all required documentation and review within CCI's electronic health record in the specified time frames.
  • Meets average monthly productivity standards, such as number of visits.
  • Learn about new developments in counseling and health by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
  • Coordinate or direct employee workshops, courses, or training about mental health and substance abuse screening and treatment.
  • Provide leadership in integrated care team collaboration.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Refugee Health Assessment Program Clinical Director or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSW-C), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), or Licensed Psychologist.
  • Minimum 2 years providing therapy to children, teens, and adults with mental health needs.
  • Excellent team-based communication skills with the primary care team, supervisors, and other CCI staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and process work to completion.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish, Amharic, Pashto) in reading, writing, and speaking, highly-desired.
  • Experience in the use of interpreter services.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic rapport and engage patients in treatment using clinical skills including motivational interviewing in a culturally based manner.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention services to patients, and ability to be flexible, use new ideas and operate in a fast-paced health environment.
  • Prior experience collaborating with physicians and other health care providers, social service agencies, and/or education systems desired.
  • Enthusiasm for innovation, data-driven decisions, and clinical and financial outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Proper and professional grooming is always expected.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, or working at a desk on a computer.
  • The ability to lift (up to 15lbs) is required.
