We are pleased to announce an exceptional part-time opportunity for a skilled Dermatology Physician. As an integral member of our healthcare team, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding care to our esteemed Veterans.

Work Schedule:

  • Part-Time, 30 hours weekly, 3 days per week, from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Not eligible for telework, in-person only).

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completed Residency Training.
  • Board Certified or eligible.
  • New Grads are welcomed!

Call Coverage:

  • Rotating on-call coverage with a minimum of two additional attending physicians. The frequency of on-call weeks is proportional to 0.75 Full-Time Equivalent, amounting to approximately 12 weeks within a calendar year.

Practice Environment Description:

  • This distinctive role encompasses a blend of clinical practice, procedural expertise, and academic responsibilities within a collaborative and supportive setting.
  • The position provides an exceptional opportunity to engage in a stimulating academic atmosphere while managing a part-time clinical schedule.
  • You will work alongside colleagues to deliver comprehensive dermatologic care, participate in teaching and mentoring, and support the academic objectives of the department.
  • Our dermatology department comprises a dedicated team that includes two full-time physicians, one full-time physician-scientist, two part-time staff physicians, and two nurse practitioners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments for acute dermatological conditions, ensuring prompt and appropriate interventions.
  • Administer the admission process for patients presenting with severe or acute dermatological disorders.
  • Provide continuous management for chronic dermatological diseases, including psoriasis, eczema, and skin malignancies.
  • Continue to perform and supervise laser surgical procedures, with an emphasis on mentoring and overseeing resident involvement.
  • Deliver tele-dermatology services, facilitating remote consultations and follow-up care to enhance patient accessibility.
  • Serve as a mentor to five UCI dermatology residents, offering practical instruction and oversight during clinical procedures and evaluations.

Benefits:

  • Compensation: $350,000-$400,000. Additionally, employees may be eligible to receive up to $15,000 in performance-based pay annually. For part-time employees, the performance pay will be calculated based on the full-time equivalent salary, rather than being prorated according to the standard work schedule or actual earnings. Furthermore, employees can qualify for Proficiency Awards, which are available in addition to Pay for Performance incentives. Regular salary reviews will occur every two years, and all employees will receive cost-of-living adjustments annually.
  • Annual Leave (Paid Time Off): 1 hour of annual leave for each 10 hours in a pay status with a max carryover of 240 hours. 1 hour of sick leave for each 20 hours in a pay status (no limit) and 11 paid federal holidays accrue right away.
  • Liability Protection: VA physicians are covered under federal tort laws and may be defended by the United States against allegations of malpractice or negligence.
  • Health insurance: With Federal Employees Health Benefits, choose from a variety of self or family health maintenance organizations and are entitled to a partial Government contribution in proportion to the number of hours you are scheduled to work in a pay period.
  • Dental and vision insurance: Under the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, supplemental dental and/or vision benefits are available to you and your family.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts: Allows you to save money for health care expenses with a Health Care or Limited Expense Health Care FSA. Think of it as a savings account that helps you pay for items that typically aren’t covered by your FEHB Plan, the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, or other health insurance coverage.
  • Health Savings Accounts: A High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) provides traditional medical coverage and a triple-tax advantaged way to help you build savings for future medical expenses while providing you greater flexibility and discretion over how you use your health care benefits.
  • Life insurance: Plan for what’s next with Federal Employees Group Life Insurance, which is group term life insurance covering you and eligible family members.
  • Pension: Your basic annuity is computed based on your length of service and “high-3” average salary and become vested in the Federal Employee Retirement System, Basic/Defined Benefit pension after only five years of creditable civilian service.
  • Thrift Savings Plan (Federal 401k Equivalent) 5 % agency match: TSP lets you contribute up to $23,000 a year to your account. Become vested after only 3 years of creditable civilian service.
  • Survivor Benefits: Become eligible for survivor benefits after 10 years of service.
