Our team has the ability to build complex 3D Characters and work alongside development artists and Character TDs to convert designs into builds.

The character modeler will be required to deliver outstanding models both creatively and technically and ensure the delivery of assets within the established time frame. Since each project is different and requires a unique vision, the candidate will have to showcase a high level of skill that demonstrates adaptability to any style or design and has a solid foundation in the technical aspects of character model creation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exceptional understanding of anatomy.
  • Strong communication skills, team-oriented.
  • Highly motivated to go above and beyond what is requested to help advance the R&D of the Ziva team.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Traditional sculpting techniques using digital tools such as Maya or Z-brush.
  • Ability to create unique CG character models using provided reference material.
  • Attention to detail building high-resolution photoreal bodies and faces, both human and animal.
  • Experience working with 3d and 4d scan data.
  • Experience with facial expressions and shapes.
  • Cloth modeling with marvelous designer is a plus.
  • Submit work to dailies and attend production reviews. Receive and address artistic and technical feedback.
  • Quality check your work, meticulous in addressing the notes and staying true to anatomy and reference materials.
  • Able and eager to learn and become familiar with in-house workflows and methodologies and pipeline tools. Able to adapt to changing requirements or briefs.
  • Attend various project-specific reviews/discussions and other mandatory meetings.
  • Cloth modeling with marvelous designer is a plus
Job Requirements
  • Production experience as a character modeler for high-level VFX content.
  • Ability to work closely with our CG Supervisor/Creature and Faces leads to ensure the quality and technical viability of character models for production.
  • Ability to effectively translate your ideas, suggestions, and questions with other members of the team.


Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $110,000 to $165,000. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferrable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.
