Do you like to solve problems that help others and provide the best support regarding Materials possible to our products within Siemens Energy, especially for our large gas turbine products?

The High Temperature Materials Engineer is an important position in Materials and Technology, belonging to a team developing sophisticated technologies pertaining to gas turbine efficiency and reliability.

The primary focus of this position is on the investigation and development of high temperature materials used in our gas turbine products. It includes material selection and development to meet gas turbine efficiency and reliability targets in support of our decarbonization goals. Within a network of materials engineers and applying your technical knowledge, you support material development. In this context, you will play a decisive role while constantly moving our materials landscape forward.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Support future materials strategies with expert materials knowledge, supported by testing activities, for new and sophisticated high temperature materials and materials systems
  • Coordinate material development projects in global teams, from project initiation, feasibility studies to test planning and generation of property curves for gas turbine design
  • Consult colleagues in gas turbine design and service engineering in any materials related topics
  • Support of qualifications & definition of material specifications
  • Defining and managing project timelines, breakthroughs, and financial resources
What You Bring
  • Master or PhD in Materials Sciences or Mechanical Engineering with focus on Materials; 5 to 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Deep understanding of materials science (e.g. alloy design, microstructural evolution, deformation mechanisms for metallic materials); Significant knowledge in metallurgy, manufacturing & mechanical behavior of nickel-based superalloys
  • Understanding of gas turbine and steam turbine technology, data analysis and basic FEA modelling
  • Experience of collaborating in multidisciplinary research networks / project consortia & very good project management skills
  • Excellent team skills with effective communication & interpersonal skills to blend in a multicultural and cross-organizational team; Strategic judgment and risk management; experience in handling multiple and urgent topics at the same time & setting priorities
  • Advanced English, German is a plus

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
