Transportation (Roadway Design) Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in technical design for a variety of civil engineering transportation projects.
  • Utilize software for design calculations of roadways and site improvements.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and managers to develop innovative design solutions and address project challenges.
  • Maintain communication with internal teams and external clients to ensure effective engineering solutions.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment across multiple disciplines.
  • Participate in quality assurance and reviews of design plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites and other ATCS locations as required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 2-8 years of experience in roadway and transportation design.
  • EIT certification preferred; PE license a plus.
  • Proficiency in modeling software such as MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer; familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with VDOT standards, practices, and policies.
  • Interest in designing roundabouts, innovative interchanges, design-build projects, and/or multimodal transportation solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $71,550 to $133,650 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 2% of the employee's annualized salary.
