The Commissioning Safety Professional is responsible for assisting the additional Commissioning safety professionals and Commissioning Team in Electrical Safety Plan implementation. Additionally, auditing that plans implementation and for areas of improvement. Conducting training in relation to electrical activities, assisting with LOTO, energizations, and testing of electrical equipment.
  • Assist in development of Electrical Safety Plan for a project site.
  • Attend daily commissioning meetings to gain an understanding of where electrical testing and other electrical activities will take place across the job and ensure safety measures are implemented during test activities. Additionally, to identify any activities that would require LOTO of equipment or systems.
  • Present and communicate forecasted LOTO for planned energy isolation activities during the daily commissioning meetings.
  • Assist in development and review of LOTO permit Ensure appropriate case status of LOTO permitting through Infralink.
  • Audit energy isolation on the project site consistently.
  • Assist in reviewing outage scripts for medium voltage or other applicable operations with energy marshal.
  • Assist in reviewing testing and commissioning work script with energy marshal prior to their application in the field.
  • Oversee arc and shock rated PPE for the project site. Ensuring compliance with testing of insulated gloves and maintaining records of arc and shock PPE administered.
  • Conduct LOTO training for all authorized personnel on the job.
  • Conduct electrical awareness training for all affected and authorized personnel on the job.
  • Co-conduct NPFA 70E training with certified trainer in order to acclimate to training criteria.
  • Assist in selection of qualified personnel for LOTO operations, commissioning and testing, and other applicable electrical related work activities.
  • Responsible for reviewing near energized work scenarios and developing risk assessments that determine safe work practices for activities taking place within an energized environment.
  • Responsible for tailoring work procedures to uphold NFPA 70E guidelines.
  • Field presence during commissioning or energy isolation activities for electrical safety oversight.
  • Assist in presenting a safe plan of action for pre-energization kick of meetings prior to the first time energizations of equipment or systems.


Position / Candidate Requirements:
  • 8-10 years' experience with a High School diploma
  • 6-8 years' experience with an Associates Degree
  • 2-4 years' experience with a Bachelors Degree
  • Occupational Safety Degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Experience conducting S&H training, Regulatory compliance expert/1910, 1926, NFPA 70E
  • Safety Management Systems knowledge, skill, and experience
  • Understanding of culture, culture building skills and human performance (NFPA 70E Annex Q)
  • Willingness to pursue Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Electrical Safety Technician (CEST), Certified Electrical Safety Compliance (CESCP), NFPA 70E train the trainer certification
  • Previous electrical / construction / industrial / federal and commercial Safety & Health experience is preferred
