Job Description

Michael Baker International is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Federal Aviation team for the delivery of airfield engineering projects that sustain and modernize critical airfield infrastructure for the US Military in the United States and worldwide.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  1. Serving as a federal aviation operations lead for Michael Baker in collaboration with Michael Baker's Pittsburgh-based aviation department manager and federal program managers to position the team for airfield/pavement planning and design opportunities among AFCEC, USACE, NAVFAC, and USCG customers.
  2. Meeting directly with DoD customers to discuss airfield requirements as coordinated with Michael Baker's US Air Force and Space Force National Market Lead.
  3. Internal coordination among the Michael Baker national aviation team and external coordination among JV partners for the strategic development of team qualifications and technical proposals in response to Government solicitations.
  4. Leading a team of airfield design subject matter experts and engineering specialists for the planning and design of airfield pavements and related airfield infrastructure, including leading charettes, developing COAs and design alternatives, preparation of 100% IFC plans and technical specifications, and review and approval of materials and RFIs during construction.
  5. Serving as a SME in the evaluation and design of federal airfields and pavements, including industry engagement, presentations, and technical papers in conjunction with relevant conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  6. Educating Michael Baker airfield designers and developing SME's throughout the company.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent communicator, efficient decision maker, strategic leader, strong organizational and technical writing skills
  • A minimum of 15 years project management and civil engineering experience in leading teams on DoD airfield pavement projects that include but not limited to field inspections, site investigation, analysis, planning, design, and construction administration services.
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Considerable experience in applying of DoD, UFC, & UFGS criteria to airfield projects
  • Ability to work efficiently remotely from other team members and ability to travel to Michael Baker offices (CONUS) for on-site team collaboration and coordination meetings as necessary
  • US Passport & ability to travel internationally (OCONUS) to execute projects as necessary

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES:
  • With strong understanding of DoD requirements, DoD Airfield Engineering (USACE, AFCEC, NAVFAC), airfield horizontal geometric layout, PCASE pavement design, application of UFC requirements and USGS specifications, project procurement, and preparing technical SOW's.
  • Who work in Michael Baker's Pittsburgh, PA office (remote assignment considered for the right candidate)

Compensation:

This position will be filled at a salary range of $100,942-$166,543 depending on experience..
