The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Lead Engineer to work onsite in Doral, Florida and have the opportunity to oversee the technical execution of IT and Cyber Services programs supporting the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES) 2 contract. The Lead Engineer will ensure the successful implementation and sustainment of cyber-informed IT solutions that support full-spectrum operations across USSOUTHCOM's Area of Responsibility (AOR), which includes Central and South America and select Caribbean nations. This role requires a combination of technical leadership, engineering expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse mission partners.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering efforts to design, develop, implement, and sustain IT and cybersecurity capabilities across USSOUTHCOM's Enterprise, including OCONUS locations.
- Oversee the implementation of seamless, interoperable, and resilient cyber-informed information technology systems aligned with USSOUTHCOM's strategic, operational, and tactical objectives.
- Develop and maintain cyber-informed architectures, ensuring all engineering activities include robust configuration and change management to secure mission-critical systems.
- Lead the transition of IT services from concept to production, managing deployment, modifications, and decommissioning of IT services as necessary.
- Ensure service design aligns with both current and future DoD and USSOUTHCOM requirements, incorporating continuous evaluation and refinement of requirements and service catalogs.
- Collaborate with program management to align technical solutions with operational needs and strategic goals, driving proactive decision-making.
- Utilize innovative technologies and emergent engineering solutions to meet identified capability gaps, reduce total cost of ownership, and enhance mission capability.
- Ensure engineering solutions comply with DoD regulations, USSOUTHCOM policies, and industry best practices.
- Lead the coordination of technical support and collaboration across command echelons, mission partners, and international stakeholders to enable interoperable IT capabilities.
- Provide leadership in service operations to ensure compliant, secure, and mission-effective IT systems, leveraging available sensors to drive proactive reporting and decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in engineering roles, with a focus on IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and network systems.
- Must currently hold and be able to maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
- ITIL certification or similar service management qualification.
- Strong technical background in IT service design, configuration management, cybersecurity operations, and system integration.
- Experience leading the design and implementation of cyber-informed engineering solutions in a defense environment.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams in high-stakes, mission-critical environments, including OCONUS deployments.
- Excellent bilingual communication skills (English and Spanish), with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to travel as needed within the USSOUTHCOM AOR.
- Must be proficient in Spanish and be able to speak, read, and communicate fluently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or Engineering.
- Experience supporting IT infrastructure engineering and cybersecurity for combatant commands or other defense organizations.
- Knowledge of USSOUTHCOM's mission, strategic goals, and command structure.
- Experience in managing service transition and service operations in compliance with DoD standards and frameworks, such as NIST, eMASS, or SIPRNet environments.
