Join our team, as an entry level PhD Technical Geotechnical Engineer. As a geotechnical engineer with a technical focus, you will bring your expertise and unique solutions to highly visible and challenging projects. Our mid-sized group allows entry-level candidates immediate heightened responsibilities, and an open-door policy encourages 1:1 access to some of the best and most experienced geotechnical leaders in the region. This is a full time, hybrid role in our Seattle, WA office.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:

  • Perform geotechnical engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Perform geotechnical report writing.
  • Complete geotechnical field exploration and sample collection.
  • Perform geotechnical construction monitoring and testing.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Perform seismic site response analyses, leveraging advanced constitutive liquefaction prediction models such as PMS4Sand and PM4Silt.
  • Perform CPT/SPT based liquefaction impact analysis of sites.
  • Conduct probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard evaluation.
  • Perform Finite element based seismic soil structure interaction modeling.
  • Perform traditional geotechnical calculations and analyses such as deep and shallow foundation capacity calculations, slope stability, and lateral earth pressures.
  • Write geotechnical reports and other technical document drafting.
  • Perform programming in Python.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or Earthquake Engineering - REQUIRED
  • MS in Geotechnical Engineering - REQUIRED
  • BS in Civil Engineering - REQUIRED
  • Engineer-in-Training License
  • Ability to obtain PE license in 3-4 years.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Team attitude and the ability to interact well with internal staff, and project teams that will include other consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Experience in performing 1-D seismic site response analyses, preferably leveraging advanced constitutive liquefaction prediction models such as PMS4Sand and PM4Silt
  • Experience with traditional geotechnical calculations and analyses such as deep and shallow foundation capacity calculations, slope stability, and lateral earth pressures.
  • Experience with geotechnical report writing and other technical document drafting.
  • Experience with conducting probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard evaluation (preferred).
  • Experience with finite element based seismic soil structure interaction modeling (preferred).
  • Experience with programming in Python (preferred).
  • Experience with Slide, Settle3D, and LPile (preferred).
  • Experience on construction sites and field explorations (preferred).
  • Ability to travel to temporary assignments across the U.S., the Pacific Islands region, and internationally as necessary.
  • The ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Current driver's license.

The salary range for this position in Seattle, WA is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assesscompetitiveness with the market. This role is eligible to participate in the company's discretionary bonus program. This role may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.
