Spring 2025 Youth Soccer Marketing Intern

The Marketing Intern for Youth Soccer will gain hands-on experience performing a variety of roles within a fast paced, behind-the-scenes environment, with the chance to have a direct impact on youth soccer in Kansas City. Sporting Kansas City's collaborative environment full of learning opportunities is designed to help all interns evolve their capabilities, challenge their strengths, and reach their fullest potential.

Sporting Kansas City internships allow students or recent graduates to hold a temporary position within the organization, with emphasis on training and gathering practical experience in their field of specialization by doing a variety of tasks as assigned by their Team Lead. The Marketing Intern for Youth will gain hands-on experience working with the team by helping to further develop our programming in the Kansas City and surrounding areas.

Essential Functions

  • Assist Youth Sports Marketing Manager in the development and execution of marketing campaigns for youth programs, including camps, clinics, seasonal tournaments, and leagues.
  • Help create engaging marketing materials, such as flyers, social media graphics, and email newsletters.
  • Manage social media content related to youth programs including attending events for content capture, scheduling posts and interacting with the community.
  • Support the organization of promotional events and outreach activities to increase participation in youth programs.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to analyze campaign performance metrics and provide insights for improvement.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the youth programs website, ensuring information is up-to-date and engaging.

Skills and Experience
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Professional experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and basic graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite) is preferred.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Passion for soccer and youth sports development.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prior experience with a Sports team or in youth sports is not required, but experience with youth sports landscape is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write in the English language to engage with fans, guests, partners, and other Sporting Kansas City associates.
