Position Summary
The Production Manager will manage the activities and performance of Supervisors to ensure that quality products are manufactured on time, safely, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Manages the department, ensuring efficient and timely production and proper staffing of all department- related requirements to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Manages the Supervisor(s), ensuring their teams are well managed; supports recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
- Assigns duties, gives verbal and written instructions, and reviews work for conformance to quality and safety standards
- Provides technical guidance to team members and consults with other resources when needed
- Communicates with the Director, Manufacturing regarding schedules and backlogs
- Works with Project Managers and Engineering as appropriate
- Determines outsourcing needs to maintain project schedules
- Reviews labor charges, purchase requisitions, and department schedules
- Conducts department and CIT meetings
- Employees are responsible to comply with all requirements of Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures
- Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the material handling industry
- Excellent management skills for directing, coaching, scheduling, and assisting team members
- Technical orientation with ability to learn new technologies
- Computer skills including MS Office
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
- Team-oriented and collaborative
