Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary Range: $200,000 - $215,000 + Bonus
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Department: Finance

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of our dynamic insurance company in North Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will possess both strong technical accounting skills and proven experience managing system integrations and manual accounting processes. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of rebuilding the finance department while streamlining processes for both the short-term cleanup and long-term growth.

You will be responsible for managing financial reporting, system integration (especially with Great Plains), team management, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Controller will also be involved in key decision-making processes that drive the company's growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Leadership:

    • Lead and oversee all accounting operations including AR/AP, general ledger, payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
    • Ensure the accuracy of financial data and timely completion of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
    • Manage both manual and automated accounting processes and ensure smooth integration of Great Plains software with current systems.
Qualifications:
  • Education & Certification:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA is required.
    • Big Four accounting experience is a huge plus.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3-5 years at a Controller level.
    • Proven experience in the insurance industry is a must.
    • Demonstrated experience managing financial system integrations and leading teams through transitions.
  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Ability to handle high-volume financial operations and manage multiple priorities.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading finance teams.
    • Excellent communication and decision-making skills, capable of making tough choices when necessary.
    • High proficiency in financial analysis, reporting, and budget management.
    • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
