Children’s Mercy Kansas City

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a M.D. or M.D. /Ph.D. or D.O. board-certified or board-eligible hematopathologist to join our Division of Clinical Pathology.

Interested individuals must be a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology or board-eligible in these areas. Responsibilities of the role include clinical supervision of lab services including flow cytometry, clinical laboratory coagulation, hematology, and transfusion medicine, as well as evaluation of bone marrow aspirate/biopsy/peripheral smears when needed.

Children’s Mercy Kansas City is the largest standalone, tertiary care, pediatric health care organization in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas.   The hospital is a level 1 trauma center and has very active bone marrow, heart, kidney and liver transplant programs. The DPLM provides numerous collaborative research opportunities with various clinical sections and research laboratories including genetics and world-class genome center which performs cutting edge research and diagnostic tests such as exome and whole genome sequencing.  The hospital has academic affiliations with UMKC (University of Missouri at Kansas City) and KUMC (Kansas University Medical Center) with training and educational programs (Residency and Fellowship) in most pediatric specialties, including American Board of Pathology and American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics accredited Fellowship training programs.

The candidate must be eligible for an active, unrestricted Missouri and Kansas medical licenses.  Academic appointment will be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor (non-tenure-track) in the Department of Pathology at The University of Missouri Kansas City. The candidate is expected to contribute to educational and scholarly activities in the Department of Pathology based at Children’s Mercy Hospital.
